Hello Sisterfriends On behalf of The Black Wives and Black Girlfriends Network, I would like to welcome you to our website. In doing so, I hope that you will decide to join us as we endeavor to continue fostering and building a dynamic sisterhood and support network in the Black community. Our 2008 theme is BWN Women: Creating a Legacy of Connection, Collaboration and Community. The organization started a little over a year ago with the intention of getting together with a community of Black, Married women and their families. As the word continued to spread about all of the fabulous things we were doing, more and more women wanted to be involved. We came to realize that the network was not formed purely for the purpose of focusing on or celebrating our marriages but rather to nourish the soul, enrich the spirit, elevate our minds and develop a community of sisterfriends
While Black Wives Network is still a rich part of who we are, we have truly evolved into an organization for ALL Black women - married or not. We’ve managed to create a dynamic network of professional, ambitious women who believe strongly in connecting and supporting one another. I am very proud to say that many new friendships, business partnerships and exchanges have developed as a result of this network.
Additionally, as professional women managing busy schedules, we realize the importance of seeking balance in our daily lives particularly as it relates to our careers, relationships, families, finances and health. With that in mind, we’re committed to being fully enriched ‘whole women’ through our monthly gatherings, retreats, literary group and commitment to sisterhood.
With a commitment to the community, we put the power of our connectivity in action by coordinating special times for us to volunteer our time, talents and resources to local charitable organizations. In fact, stay tuned for the launch of Joyful Transformations, Inc., our volunteer led, non-profit organization devoted to transforming the lives of young girls on their journey to leadership excellence.
I invite you to explore our website to learn more and consider joining us.
